Oakvillegreen (OCA) is a non-profit environmental organization striving to make Oakville a living city with enhanced natural diversity, stronger connections between natural areas and healthier green spaces. Their aim is to reconnect people to the natural environment in their neighborhood and across their community to increase their awareness of the importance of nature and move them to action to protect, enhance and restore Oakville’s natural environment.
Through education and awareness campaigns, they look to promote sustainable living and urban forest stewardship. By training and guiding residents to undertake environmental action-driven activities, including planting and caring for trees, building rain gardens and removing invasive species, we are improving the quality of life of Oakville residents while enhancing urban ecosystems. Offering a variety of programs on three main areas: Advocacy, Education and Stewardship. Click the link below to take a look at education programs!
Stewardship programs include tree planting, invasive species removal, pollinator garden maintenance, seed collection, litter clean-ups, etc.
Due to covid, education programs are now offered through videos or zoom calls and the stewardship events have been limited.
Oakvillegreen is always looking for opportunities to collaborate and engage volunteers, they would love to hear from you, feel free to send an email at programs@oakvillegreen.org. To learn more about Oakvillegreen, take a look at their website www.Oakvillegreen.org or watch a short video here
